The Geita mine is located in the Lake Victoria Gold Fields of northwestern Tanzania, about 120 km from Mwanza and just 20 km from Lake Victoria. The company’s main offices and mine operations are based in Geita, while a supporting office operates in Dar es Salaam.

Position Overview

Position: Graduate Geologist 2 – Exploration

Reports to: Geologist 1 – Exploration

Number of Posts: One (1)

The Graduate Geologist 2 – Exploration will be responsible for carrying out daily exploration programs, including geological mapping, drilling, sampling, and data interpretation. The role involves close supervision of field activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and supporting the delivery of accurate geological information for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards in all geological works.
• Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and logging in line with approved procedures.
• Implement and monitor exploration drilling programs to ensure alignment with drill plans.
• Manage sample recoveries, drill core orientation, and QA/QC protocols to ensure accurate data collection.
• Supervise drill rig activities to ensure that consumables are available and properly utilised.
• Reconcile downhole survey results and report any deviations for timely corrective action.
• Ensure accurate sample labelling, handling, and timely submission to the laboratory.
• Oversee drilling contractors and maintain professional working relationships.
• Promote good housekeeping and compliance with standard operating procedures on all sites.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related Geoscience field.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Graduate Geologist 1 or Intern in a medium to large-scale mining operation.

Additional Requirements:

• Strong skills in geological mapping.
• Competence in GIS, Datamine, Leapfrog, or similar software.
• Experience in exploration drilling supervision.
