Role Purpose
The Risk and Compliance Trainee will provide support in the implementation of risk management and compliance frameworks across the business. The position is ideal for a proactive and ethical individual looking to start a career in compliance within a regulated financial environment.
What you will do

Support communication with regulators, including TIRA, TRA, and FIU, on compliance-related matters

Track regulatory changes and recommend policy updates

Prepare and submit compliance and regulatory reports

Conduct compliance risk assessments for business processes and departments

Monitor high-risk transactions and ensure due diligence procedures are followed

Maintain and update internal compliance policies and operating manuals
-
Support the implementation of AML/CFT and Data Protection standards

Carry out KYC reviews and escalate suspicious cases

Prepare and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs)

Organise compliance awareness and ethics training sessions

Promote a culture of integrity and regulatory compliance within the business

Support both internal and external compliance audits

Investigate breaches and ensure timely corrective action

Maintain incident logs and follow up on outstanding audit issues

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reports
-
Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes affecting insurance operations

Provide compliance support to business functions to prevent risk exposure
Who we are looking for
-
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Risk Management, Compliance, Insurance, Actuarial Science, or related field
-
1–2 years’ experience in compliance, audit, legal, or risk management
-
Knowledge of compliance frameworks in the financial or insurance sectors
-
Understanding of compliance regulations, risk management, and governance standards
-
Strong report writing, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
-
Excellent communication skills in English and Kiswahili
-
Strong ethics, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information
-
Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks
-
Familiarity with AML, Data Privacy, and insurance regulations is an added advantage
