The Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is opening a new opportunity for a Research Officer (Medical Doctor) to join the Chronic Diseases Clinic of Ifakara (CDCI) team. This position combines patient care with research, offering a chance to directly improve lives while contributing to scientific knowledge.
What the Role Involves
As part of this role, you’ll be caring for patients living with HIV and Tuberculosis at Saint Francis Referral Hospital (SFRH). On a typical day, you might:
- Treat and manage patients in line with Tanzania’s national health guidelines.
- Identify and handle opportunistic infections, or connect patients to the right specialists.
- Keep accurate patient records and ensure case reports are properly completed.
- Participate in ward rounds and consultations for admitted patients.
- Provide health education and counseling to help patients follow their treatment.
- Join the clinic’s regular morning meetings and scientific discussions.
- Support ongoing and new research projects at IHI.
What We’re Looking For
We’re searching for a licensed medical doctor with a strong interest in HIV/TB work and a passion for research. The essentials include:
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and internship completion.
- Valid registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
- At least one year of experience in clinical work.
- Confidence in both English and Swahili.
