De Beers Group Agriskills Short Skills Programme 2025

Practical Training for Sustainable Farming Success

Building Knowledge, Strengthening Communities

In rural South Africa, farming isn’t just a livelihood — it’s the foundation of entire communities. Yet, many farmers still struggle to access the right training and practical know-how to keep their farms both sustainable and profitable.

To help change this, De Beers Group has launched the Agriskills Short Skills Programme 2025. This initiative is designed to give farmers and aspiring agripreneurs the tools they need to thrive — blending technical training with business management and compliance skills that can be put into practice straight away.

Where It Happens

Training will take place in Blouberg and Musina in 2025.

What the Programme Offers

This is not a long, drawn-out academic course. It’s built for busy farmers who need targeted, results-driven learning at NQF Level 5. Each module is short, intensive, and focused on skills that can be used immediately.

Here’s what participants can expect:

The essentials of budgeting, record keeping, and cash flow planning, with practical guidance on funding opportunities and financial compliance.

Machine Operation (5 Days)

Hands-on training with tractors, planters, and harvesters, including daily checks and efficiency techniques.

Practical repair and maintenance skills to keep farm machinery and vehicles running, reducing reliance on outside services.

Forklift Driving (5 Days)

Training focused on safe handling, OHS compliance, and practical applications in packhouses and warehouses.

Marketing and Branding (5 Days)

From packaging to digital promotion, farmers will learn how to market their produce in both local and wider markets.

Food Safety (5 Days)

Guidance on HACCP, Global G.A.P., and local regulations to ensure safe handling, storage, and traceability.

Water Management and Irrigation (5 Days)

Efficient irrigation practices, soil-water management, and compliance with South Africa’s Water Act.

Health and Safety (3 Days)

Workplace safety, accident prevention, chemical handling, and protective gear — all aligned with the OHS Act.
