About the Role

CRDB Bank is seeking an experienced professional to join its Retail Banking Department as a Bancassurance Relationship Manager. This position plays a pivotal role in strengthening partnerships between the bank and insurance providers, while also supporting branch teams to deliver quality insurance solutions to customers. The successful candidate will be expected to combine strategic business development with day-to-day operational support, ensuring that bancassurance continues to grow as a key part of CRDB’s retail offering.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Management

  • Build, maintain, and enhance strong working relationships with insurance partners and bancassurance agents.
  • Ensure regular communication and feedback to resolve issues promptly and effectively.

Business Development

  • Identify growth opportunities for bancassurance products within the retail banking network.
  • Develop and execute strategies that expand product penetration and customer reach.
  • Work closely with branch sales teams to promote and deliver insurance products.

Sales and Product Performance

  • Monitor performance against agreed sales targets and recommend corrective measures when needed.
  • Provide insight into market trends and customer preferences to guide product positioning.
  • Support branches with sales campaigns and initiatives aimed at boosting bancassurance revenue.

Claims and Policy Administration

  • Oversee the follow-up of claims processes to ensure timely resolution for customers.
  • Provide support for policy renewals and respond to inquiries about insurance products and services.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Prepare and submit regular reports, including monthly updates to insurance companies and quarterly submissions to ARCA (copied to BRB).
  • Report on sales performance, market development, and operational activities to the Bancassurance Manager.
  • Manage commission claims from insurance companies and ensure operational efficiency in bancassurance processes.

Product Knowledge and Advisory

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance and banking products.
  • Provide accurate, practical advice and recommendations to both staff and clients.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking and Insurance, or Business Administration.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ sales experience in insurance, banking, or financial services.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of insurance and banking products.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve sales targets and drive business growth.
  • Proven skills in relationship management and negotiation.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent communication skills in Kirundi, French, and English.
  • Customer-oriented with effective problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Good understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
