To strengthen its Human Resources function, TCB is seeking to recruit a Senior Manager Human Resources – Training & Development to lead the Bank’s training agenda and foster a culture of continuous learning.
Position Objective
The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing training and development strategies across the Bank. It focuses on building employee skills, supporting career growth, and aligning people development with TCB’s overall strategic objectives. A key outcome of this role is to ensure the Bank has a strong leadership pipeline and a learning culture that supports long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Training Strategy & Planning
- Develop and oversee the Bank’s Training & Development strategy in line with corporate goals.
- Conduct Training Needs Assessments (TNA) to identify skills and competency gaps.
- Prepare annual training plans and budgets, ensuring efficiency and measurable impact.
2. Learning & Development Implementation
- Design, coordinate, and monitor both internal and external training programs.
- Develop curricula, e-learning platforms, and leadership development frameworks.
- Drive initiatives such as mentorship, coaching, succession planning, and talent development.
- Ensure comprehensive induction and orientation programs for all new hires.
3. Policy, Compliance & Reporting
- Formulate and review training policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Bank of Tanzania (BoT) training requirements and regulations.
- Prepare and submit training reports to regulators on time.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and their business impact.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
- Work with internal stakeholders, including EXCO and Chief Managers, to align training to business needs.
- Manage external partnerships with training providers, consultants, and professional institutions such as ATE, BoT, IoDT, NBAA, and HR associations.
- Represent the Bank at professional events, workshops, and conferences.
5. Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the Training & Development team to meet set goals.
- Promote innovation and digital learning tools to modernize training delivery.
- Build a high-performance culture within the unit.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Industrial Relations, HR Planning, HR Management, Sociology, Political Science, Commerce, or Business Administration (majoring in HR) from a recognized institution.
- At least 13 years’ work experience in a related field.
- Professional certifications in Training/Learning & Development, Coaching, or HR (CIPD, SHRM, IHRM, etc.) will be an added advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to research, evaluate, and implement training options effectively.
