The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is entrusted with managing the national road network and overseeing airport development across Mainland Tanzania. Our core responsibilities include planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining roads to support socio-economic growth. We also carry out Axle Load Control Operations to safeguard road infrastructure.

The Regional Manager of TANROADS Shinyanga, on behalf of the Chief Executive, is inviting applications from qualified and committed Tanzanians to fill the following vacancy for the Kahama–Bulyanhulu road project:

Position: Sociologist (1 Post)

Entry Qualifications

  • Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, Sociology, Guidance and Counselling, or a related field from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a related field.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review the Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (C-ESMP) to ensure it aligns with the project’s Social Management Plan (EMP).
  • Oversee the implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) and other social management plans.
  • Establish and operationalise a Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) to ensure community concerns are addressed effectively.
  • Facilitate active participation of local communities in project-related activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the project’s Social Impact Assessment (SIA), identifying and addressing potential social risks.
  • Engage with institutions and stakeholders on social issues related to the project.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Terms of Service

  • Employment will be on a one-year contract, renewable depending on project progress.
  • Attractive remuneration package in line with the TANROADS salary scale, plus site allowances as per the TANROADS Incentive Policy.
  • Successful candidates must be ready to work for extended periods in Kahama District, where the project site is located.
