The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is inviting applications from suitable candidates to fill 53 positions of Independent Correctional Centre Visitors (ICCVs). These are 36-month contract appointments under the Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS).

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Senior Certificate

• Computer literacy

• Community organisation recommendation/nomination (not older than 6 months)

• Strong communication skills (written & verbal)

• Ability to work under pressure

• Knowledge of Batho Pele principles

• Ability to work independently and in a team

• Driver’s licence advantageous

• Preference for applicants living near the correctional centre

Key Responsibilities

• Visit assigned correctional centre daily

• Handle and record inmate complaints

• Monitor and report on:

  • Living conditions

  • Deaths in custody

  • Segregation

  • Use of force and restraints

• Submit detailed reports

• Assist JICS officials during investigations
