Rikolto in East Africa is seeking a Finance Analyst to provide financial leadership and technical support across operations in Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda. The ideal candidate will strengthen financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance across the region.
Purpose of the Role
The Finance Analyst will play a central role in ensuring high-quality financial management across the three countries by:

Strengthening financial planning, analysis, and reporting

Ensuring accurate, consistent regional reporting
-
Safeguarding compliance with donor requirements and accounting standards
-
Consolidating country-level data into regional reports
-
Coaching and supporting country finance teams
This role involves regional collaboration and occasional travel to country offices within East Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Reporting
-
Prepare and consolidate annual and project budgets at the regional and country levels
-
Lead monthly expenditure reviews and variance analysis
-
Produce financial forecasts to support management decisions
-
Review and harmonise regional financial reports using donor templates
-
Support financial modelling and scenario planning
-
Review draft financial entries before they are posted
-
Submit accurate and timely consolidated regional reports
Team Leadership & Supervision
-
Supervise Finance Officers in Tanzania (2) and Uganda (1)
-
Review country financial submissions for accuracy and completeness
-
Identify and address skill gaps within country finance teams
-
Conduct mentoring, coaching, and financial capacity-building sessions
-
Promote standardised financial processes across countries
Compliance & Internal Controls
-
Validate accounting entries and ensure correct analytical coding
-
Enforce adherence to donor and organisational financial procedures
-
Support both internal and external audit processes
-
Ensure adherence to regional accounting standards:

Tanzania – IPAS
-
Uganda – IFRS for SMEs
-
Rwanda – IFRS
-

Monitor and strengthen internal control systems
Data Management & Automation
-
Develop and manage analytical coding structures for donors and projects
-
Automate financial reports using Excel (Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA)
-
Integrate financial data using Business Intelligence tools
-
Support the regional rollout of ERP systems like Exact Globe Next or similar platforms
Process Improvement
-
Enhance financial workflow efficiency across countries
-
Standardise reporting formats and financial procedures
-
Continuously improve tools and templates for financial analysis

Qualifications
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (mandatory)
-
A master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is an added advantage
-
CPA, ACCA, CMA, CIMA or equivalent professional certification (mandatory)
Experience
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial analysis, planning, and reporting
-
Experience working with international NGOs or regional programs
-
Proven ability to manage multi-country and multi-donor budgets
-
Experience coordinating external audits and financial compliance
Technical Skills
-
Strong understanding of financial statements and linkages
-
Knowledge of IPAS, IFRS for SMEs, and IFRS standards
-
Excellent Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot Tables, VBA)
-
Experience working with ERPs (Exact, Navision, or similar)
-
Familiarity with donor reporting requirements (EU, USAID, IFAD, World Bank)
