    The Free State Department of Education has opened applications for the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Financial Monitors Programme, offering 25 posts to unemployed youth in the province.

    This initiative aims to strengthen financial accountability in ECD centres while giving graduates valuable workplace experience in administration and finance. It is part of the government’s broader strategy to support youth employment, skills development, and improved governance in education.

    Programme Overview

    • Contract: 12 months (fixed-term)

    • Stipend: R8 865 per month

    • Placement: ECD centres and district offices across the Free State

    The Financial Monitors will be responsible for ensuring that government funding allocated to ECD centres is properly managed, transparently recorded, and used for its intended purpose.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A three-year Degree/Diploma in:

      • Financial Management

      • BAdmin

      • BCom Accounting

      • Cost & Management Accounting

      • Or an equivalent qualification (NQF Level 6).

    • Preference will be given to candidates with NQF Level 7 qualifications.

    Duties

    Successful candidates will:

    • Monitor ECD centre finances.

    • Prepare and consolidate financial statements.

    • Conduct account reconciliations and audits.

    • Compile financial reports and spreadsheets.

    • Establish and maintain databases.

    • Train ECD centre staff and governing bodies on financial practices.
