Project Officer Job at the EU Delegation in Tanzania: A Chance to Shape Global Impact

Project Officer Job Vacancy at European Union Delegation Project Office

In today’s interconnected world, diplomacy is no longer just about politics — it’s also about people, partnerships, and storytelling. That’s why communication has become one of the most powerful tools for organisations that operate on the global stage.

And right now, the European Union Delegation to Tanzania and the East African Community (EAC) is opening its doors to a Project Officer (Communication) — an exciting role for someone ready to bridge cultures, craft messages, and amplify impact.

Why This Role Matters

The European Union (EU) isn’t just a political bloc of 27 countries — it’s also a global partner in development, trade, governance, and peace. In Tanzania, the EU Delegation works closely with government institutions, civil society, and private sector actors to support growth, democracy, and regional integration.

But partnerships can’t thrive without visibility. That’s where the new Project Officer comes in — to tell the story of EU-Tanzania cooperation and ensure that the results of aid, trade, and development truly resonate with the people.

What You’ll Be Doing

This isn’t just another office job — it’s a role at the intersection of diplomacy, communication, and development. As Project Officer, you will:

  • Shape narratives by designing and executing communication strategies that highlight EU projects in Tanzania and East Africa.
  • Lead campaigns that bring visibility to international partnerships and cooperation.
  • Manage social media and digital platforms to boost awareness and engagement.
  • Work with journalists and media outlets, securing positive coverage of the EU’s role in Tanzania.
  • Coordinate events, exhibitions, and content creation, from press briefings to video storytelling.
  • Oversee communication contracts and budgets, ensuring campaigns are effective and efficient.

It’s a career-defining opportunity to blend creativity with impact.

What We’re Looking For

The EU is looking for a candidate who is:

  • A skilled communicator with a degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experienced (3+ years) in communication, campaigns, media relations, and digital storytelling.
  • Strong in social media management, content creation, and video production.
  • Familiar with Tanzanian media and culture, while comfortable in international settings.
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili.

If you have a passion for shaping narratives and strengthening international partnerships, you’re the candidate this role is waiting for.

What’s on the Table

  • Salary: Starting at TZS 7,013,008 (with adjustments based on verified experience).
  • Contract: Two-year fixed term, renewable based on performance.
  • Benefits: Health insurance, retirement savings plan, personal leave, and additional EU-standard entitlements.
  • Work environment: An international diplomatic setting where collaboration and creativity drive impact.
