Equity Bank Tanzania Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to join its team as Manager – Controls in Dar es Salaam. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to operational excellence within one of Tanzania’s leading commercial banks.
About the Role
The Manager – Controls will oversee specific operational functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of key processes such as customer data transfers and financial transaction batches. The role focuses on performance monitoring, quality assurance, compliance, and process improvement to support a smooth and secure banking operation.
This position reports to the Head of Internal Controls.
Key Responsibilities
The Manager – Controls will be responsible for the following:
- Process Monitoring and Control:
- Oversee daily individual and batch processes to ensure transactions, data transfers, and operational tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Quality Assurance:
- Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to identify, prevent, and correct errors or inconsistencies in process outputs.
- Compliance:
- Ensure all operations comply with internal policies, regulatory standards, and best practices to maintain operational integrity.
- Performance Management:
- Analyse performance data to identify areas for improvement, enhance efficiency, and reduce operational errors.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on process performance, issues identified, and resolutions for management and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field from a recognised university.
- Work Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in banking operations, audit, internal control, compliance, or risk management, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of banking operations, products, and procedures.
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Effective communication skills to present findings clearly and professionally.
- Strong teamwork and leadership abilities to collaborate across departments.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and prevent processing errors.
