ZCL operates dry ports in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Walvis Bay, Namibia, with a regional freight forwarding office in Ndola, Zambia, and operations at key border points across the region.

Role Overview
The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating all logistics and freight operations at ZCL. The role requires a results-driven professional who can optimise processes, ensure compliance, foster a culture of excellence, and deliver reliable service in line with the company’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day logistics and transport activities to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Supervise scheduling, dispatching, and workflow to guarantee operational efficiency.
- Monitor performance through KPIs and other operational metrics, providing actionable insights.
- Identify gaps in processes and implement corrective measures.
- Prepare and present detailed performance reports to the Director of Operations.
- Lead and mentor operational teams, including coordinators and shift supervisors.
- Provide training and guidance to enhance staff capability and adherence to performance standards.
- Address staff-related issues professionally and promptly.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement industry best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline cross-functional operations.
- Enforce compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits and ensure swift resolution of any risks identified.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5–7 years of proven experience in operations management, preferably within the logistics or transportation sector.
- Demonstrated ability in managing teams, operational processes, and performance improvement.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
