About the Project
Trade for Jobs Uganda (2025–2030) is a five-year initiative co-led by the ILO and the International Trade Centre (ITC), funded by Sida. It aims to leverage trade as a driver for decent job creation and income generation, focusing on two high-potential sectors: dairy and tourism.
Key approaches include:
- Strengthening regional and global trade in dairy products and tourism services.
- Supporting MSMEs in value addition, diversification, competitiveness, and business environment improvement.
- Partnering with Swedish companies to unlock expertise, investment, and services.
This market-systems approach ensures long-term, scalable, and sustainable impact.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Team Leader and in coordination with CO-Dar es Salaam’s Finance and Programme Unit, you will:
- Oversee administrative and office management functions to ensure smooth project operations.
- Handle contracts, entitlements, records, and financial transactions through the ILO IRIS system.
- Provide expert guidance on ILO rules, regulations, and financial procedures.
- Support travel, meetings, workshops, and training logistics.
- Maintain relationships with ILO HQ, social partners, and UN agencies.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, financial statistics, and cost estimates.
- Monitor accounts, process expenditures, and draft budget-related correspondence.
- Supervise junior administrative staff.
- Manage procurement, office assets, premises, and supplier registration.
- Carry out additional administrative and financial tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Secondary school completion with formal training in accounting/finance/administration.
- A university degree in Accounting, Finance, Administration, or a related field is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 6 years of administrative/finance experience, including financial operations support.
- ERP system experience required.
Languages
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of financial and administrative processes, ideally within a UN setting.
- Familiarity with IPSAS or similar accounting standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP tools (e.g., IRIS).
- Strong organisational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and manage confidential information.
- Team leadership and multitasking skills.
- Commitment to diversity, gender sensitivity, and multicultural collaboration.
Conditions of Employment
- Salary: UGX 86,252,000 annually (entry step for G6).
- Contract: One-year fixed-term, with possible extension subject to funding, performance, and project needs.
- Technical cooperation roles do not lead to career tenure in the ILO.
