Procurement Officer -Build What Powers East Africa’s Future

Job Description
Employer: EITS Contractor (EACOP Project)
Role: Procurement Officer (Electrical & Instrumentation scope)
Location: Tanzania (with travel to remote project areas)
Why this role matters now
EACOP is one of East Africa’s most complex infrastructure undertakings. To deliver safely, on time, and on budget, the project depends on a procurement engine that never stalls. That’s where you come in. As Procurement Officer for EITS Contractor, you’ll keep materials, services, and logistics moving across Electrical & Instrumentation workstreams—turning engineering into execution.
The work you’ll lead
- Convert needs to outcomes: Validate purchase requisitions against budgets, specs, and timelines; launch RFQs; evaluate offers with user teams.
- Own PO execution: Create accurate POs in Schneider Electric procurement systems; align delivery terms, currency, tax, and references.
- Unblock vendors & deliveries: Resolve partials, invoice errors, warranties, and non-conformances with Logistics and QA/QC.
- Sync the field with the office: Coordinate with Engineering and Construction on BoQs, substitutions, and last-mile delivery; support customs where applicable.
- Make the data talk: Maintain trackers/dashboards for orders, deliveries, and invoices; update risk registers; brief project leadership.
- Guard compliance & traceability: Keep documentation airtight while responding to site priorities at speed.
- Be a good teammate: Join coordination meetings, back up colleagues per plan, and perform other assigned duties.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- Professional certifications a plus: CIPS (UK), CPSP (TZ).
- 5+ years in a similar role within reputable firms—ideally oil & gas, energy, or construction.
- Working knowledge of Tanzanian regulations and international best practices.
- Proficiency with ERP procurement modules and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Able to travel and work in remote areas.
- Advantageous: Large complex projects, HSE exposure, and prior oil & gas experience.
The mindset that wins here
- Growth-oriented, quick to learn, open to guidance.
- Detail-driven and disciplined under pressure.
- High integrity, strong communicator, calm in incidents.
- Able to juggle priorities and hit deadlines.
